Federal law now mandates that passenger vehicles and light trucks be fitted with direct Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. Direct TPM systems operate using radio frequency technology. Critical data such as tire pressure and temperature is sent to the vehicle control module (ECU, ECM, etc. ) via an RF signal. There are many TPM sensor manufacturers using a variety of protocols and frequencies. In order to repair vehicles that have TPM problems, you must have a complete TPM repair tool that can operate the various protocols and frequencies. The wheelrite Tech400 cannot be fooled by any other UHF signals. Therefore the technician can service the TPM vehicle with confidence.
